Journalistic Excellence at Important Media: The Pul-IM-zer Prize!

Important Media would like to encourage writers to aspire to great heights of journalism! We also, of course, realize there are hindrances to this involved in the blog format. Regardless, we believe we have some terrific writers, and we’d like to give you an opportunity to shine!

That’s why, as of today, we’re announcing the Pul-IM-zer Prize!

Every month, I will choose a handful of articles from across the network that I think are exceptionally well written and deserving of journalistic kudos. I will nominate these articles, and we’ll give the editors and site directors a chance to weigh in on them. Whichever article is chosen as the best of the best, we will give a cash prize of $25 and a free copy of the sustainability gameĀ GBO Hawaii. The winning article will also be entered in a contest against the 11 winners from other months, and becomes eligible to win the grand daddy of them all…the 2012 (or 2013 or…whatever year it happens to be) Pul-IM-zer Prize! And a bonus of $200! All Pul-IM-zer award articles will be featured on Important Media’s centralized site, as well, giving the author some great exposure. We’re even going to come up with a nifty little logo for the prize and post those into your articles.

There is no reason it has to be a long article…conciseness is king in the blog world, after all. And while there are no set guidelines to what makes a Pul-IM-zer worthy selection, here is, generally, what we’ll be looking for:

  1. Truly insightful stories
  2. Analysis and key findings that highlight some aspects of sustainability with clarity and depth
  3. Well-written
  4. Engaging
  5. Inspiring

Nominees and winners will be announced at the end of each month (starting this month of September 2012, so dust off your pen and quill!). Bonuses will be paid alongside your regular payout in our monthly Paypal bonanza.
